MISSION

The Ankara Institute conducts research on (geo)political, social, and economic developments in Turkey, Euro-Asia, and the Middle East. We aim to provide project based subtle analysis, develop comprehensive roadmaps, reach all stake-holders, and produce best possible sets of recommendations on the field.

VISION

The Ankara Institute provides consultancies to public and private sectors, NGOs and international institutions. We deliver independent, periodic, and long-term oriented policy solutions.

WHO WE ARE

The Ankara Institute is located in Ankara, Turkey. Our teams include academics, former members of the parliament, senior advisers to the Turkish prime ministers and ministers, analysts from prominent think-tanks, NGO directors, and media professionals with many years of experience. We do have extensive experience of working and partnering with leading global think-tanks, NGOs, international organizations, and governmental institutions.

WHAT WE DO

We engage in conflict resolution, providing strategic analysis to our partners, set up common grounds for issues, involve with different parties, and prepare projections relevant to decision makers. The Ankara Institute provides customized solutions: academic research, political risk analysis, polling, task-force solutions, work-shops, and managing conflict resolution processes.

HOW WE DO

Valuing a pluralistic approach, we use various qualitative and quantitative research methods to understand multilayered nature of issues. We focus on prudently trends and use comparative methods.

STAFF
HATEM ETE Director of the Institute
Hatem Ete, who completed her undergraduate, graduate and phD studies in the Department of Sociology at METU, attended Columbia University in 2007-2008 with a doctoral research scholarship. He served as the Director of Political Studies at SETA between 2008-2014 and the Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister between 2014-2017. He is a faculty member at Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Department of Sociology, and a Research Director at Ankara Institute.
TAHA ÖZHAN Research Director
Taha Özhan, research director at Ankara Institute, served as a visiting scholar at Oxford University in 2019-2020. Between 2014 and 2016, he served as the chief advisor to the Prime Minister, the 25th and 26th term deputy and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He served as the chairman of SETA between 2009-2014, of which he was one of the founding directors in 2005. Özhan's last published book is "Turkey and the Crisis of Sykes-Picot Order".
OSMAN SERT Research Director
Ankara Institute, Research Director. Graduated from METU, International Relations. He worked as a journalist for local radios, Kanal 7, CNN Türk and TRT. He followed the interior, justice, economy, prime ministry and finally diplomacy. Established TRT's Jerusalem representative office. He worked as a press consultant during Ahmet Davutoğlu's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009-2014) and Prime Ministry (2014-2016). He is the editor of the perspective.online website. He writes columns in the newspaper Karar.
